Adroid and iPad Tablets

If you wish to configure the MikroTik Node using an Android or iPad Tablet, you need to be aware of the following caveats:
  • Once you have configured a Certificate, you will be able to connect to the MikroTik router using a secure web connection. You will be able to use Quick Set and WebFig. However, you will not be able to use Terminal using the default configuration.
  • To use Terminal with an iPad, you must use a Bluetooth keyboard. There is no way to force the virtual keyboard to open (Apple Case # 100706691907).
  • To use Terminal with an Android tablet, you may either use a Bluetooth keyboard, or you may install and configure the free Hacker's Keyboard app from the Google Play Store. Here are the User's Guide and FAQ. Use the following instructions to configure this app:
    • Install the Hacker's Keyboard from the Google Play Store.
    • Open the Hacker's Keyboard App, and click the button to Enable Keyboard.
    • Click the button to Set Input Method, and choose the Hacker's Keyboard.
    • Click on the Settings button, and check the box for Use permanent notification in the Input mode settings.
    • To open the virtual keyboard at any time, click or pull down the notifications, then click on Show Hacker's Keyboard.
  • Rather than a tablet, you can use a laptop (Windows, Mac OS, or Linux) with a physical keyboard.
